  • Bonus Episode: Chris Baddick's extended interview
The Policeman's Story: In this episode we hear from Chris Baddick, the first officer on the scene that night at Lower Belgrave Street. He tells us how, after he broke the door down, he went into the basement and found the dead body of Sandra Rivett as she lay in the mail sack. He tells us the house was in darkness and in the hallway he stood on something that he thought was a children’s toy – but he later realised it was the murder weapon.  Chris, who is now retired and living in South London, also tells us of the moment he heard Lord Lucan talking on the phone to his mother, hours after the attack. He heard him say he would contact the police - but he never did. ‘The Trial of Lord Lucan’ is an innovative week-long podcast event where you the listener, are the jury.  Voting is now OPEN. • The Case for the Defence
You, the jury, have heard the evidence and arguments and are now being asked to deliberate and decide Lord Lucan’s fate. In his closing speech, defence barrister Edward Henry KC urges you to judge the case based on ‘the evidence, and the evidence alone’, saying Lord Lucan had been the victim of a ‘tsunami of prejudice’. ‘This is perhaps the most notorious murder allegation of modern times,’ he adds, as he concedes that the ‘odds are stacked’ against his client. But questioning whether Lucan could ever get a fair trial, he states the prosecution is ‘drenched in prejudice’. ‘John Bingham, Lord Lucan, has been convicted countless times before he even entered this courtroom. He has been vilified .. his whole life defamed in the Press, the Media, and on the Internet - for decade upon decade before this trial. Mr Henry also describes the forensic evidence at the murder scene as a ‘fiasco’ because of contamination. His fate is in your hands. ‘The Trial of Lord Lucan’ is an innovative week-long podcast event where you the listener, are the jury.  Voting is now OPEN. • Flaws in the Case
In this episode, we hear from one of the few surviving witnesses from the night Sandra Rivett was killed.  Chris Baddick was a rookie policeman who attended the murder scene after Lady Lucan raised the alarm at the nearby Plumbers Arms. Later that night, he was sent to Lucan’s mother’s address in north London, where he overheard a telephone call from the prime suspect. Both barristers agree that Mr Baddick’s evidence is important in understanding the chaos at 46, Lower Belgrave Street as forensic experts searched for evidence. We also hear from forensic expert Allan Jamieson, who talks about the techniques used to examine crime scenes and evidence at the time.  The Trial of Lord Lucan is an innovative week-long podcast event where you the listener, are the jury. • The Evidence
As barristers Max Hardy and Edward Henry KC debate the strengths and weaknesses of the Crown case against Lord Lucan, The Trial hears from a French woman who spent a year as his children’s nanny before Sandra Rivett got the job. Pierrette Goletto, now 78, gives an extraordinary ‘through the keyhole’ account of life behind the front door at 46, Lower Belgrave Street, Belgravia – including her encounters with the ‘tall and handsome’ peer and her difficult relationship with the temperamental Lady Lucan. We also hear an account of the events of the night from Frances Lucan, the oldest Lucan child.  Listen to the whole series this week as we put Lord Lucan on trial and remember YOU are the jury.
